by David Denby from The New Yorker, Nov. 19, 2012, pp. 66-75. I tried my best to figure out a way to copy into this blog this excellent portrait of Diane Ravitch and her heroic efforts to shine a light on the abuse of public school children with states’ maniacal assessments and accountability systems AND her crusade against all those who would under-fund and/or privatize America’s public schools. But, alas. If you don’t subscribe to The New Yorker, you will hit their firewall and not be able to read beyond the first page. But, let me assure you, it is worth every penny of the cost to buy access to this article! It’s an education in itself of all that is going on relating to these issues. Go buy a copy at the magazine stand. Use your library card to get access. Or buy online access. Just do it!
Dr. Ravitch makes important corrections to the article about her: http://dianeravitch.net/2012/11/27/the-new-yorker-profile/
